Entropy of Inside and Outside (North, South, East and West Slopes)
The engravings in the series "Entropy of Outside and Inside" are direct prints, on paper, of slate roof tiles using traditional intaglio methods. Each print features a tile with a distinct state of wear. The slopes of a roof are exposed to the elements in singular ways depending on their orientation: for example, at our latitudes, the southern slope suffers the least erosion. I use the word entropy here as a "measure of uncertainty" concerning the barrier created by the shell of our homes between a dry, warm and cosy inside and an outside where the wild elements are on the loose.
